About the event
Join Bay Area poet, author, and speaker Ashaki Scott at Barnes & Noble in Brentwood for a special reading and signing of her poetry collection, 27 Years of Life.
Held on September 13, Geronimo Pratt’s birthday, this event will also honor the life and legacy of Ashaki’s grandfather, a Black Panther Party leader, political prisoner, and symbol of resilience and freedom. Through poetry and personal storytelling, Ashaki will reflect on family, injustice, healing, identity, perseverance, and the power of finding freedom within yourself.
Guests will have an opportunity to hear selected poems, meet the author, purchase a copy of 27 Years of Life, and have their book personally signed.
Come celebrate poetry, Black history, family legacy, liberation, and the strength it takes to transform pain into purpose.
